What Families Say

"I can't recommend Jean highly enough! My daughter, who was 1st grader last year, was taught 4th grade math in a way that was both fun and perfectly tailored to her ability. Jean was incredibly flexible, adapting lessons to ensure my daughter stayed engaged and challenged without feeling overwhelmed. The creative math activities made learning enjoyable, and my daughter looked forward to every session. Her confidence in math has grown significantly, thanks to Jean's patient and thoughtful teaching approach!"

- Parent of 1st Grader

"Ms. Jean tutored my son, who was eager to join the advanced mathematics program at his school. He had a very short period to prepare and had not yet learned the next grade's math, which was required for the exam. Jean strategically planned and created a curriculum tailored to my son's study patterns and abilities. She taught him with great patience and skill. As the test day approached, Ms. Jean recognized that my son needed more time to reach his goal. She voluntarily provided additional lessons and created hand-written math questions to ensure he was well-prepared for the exam. Thanks to her dedication and great efforts, my son successfully gained admission to the advanced mathematics program!"

- Parent of 2nd Grader

"Thank you so much for helping me and studying with me for the test! You answered all of my questions and helped me properly prepare for this big test."

- 8th Grade Student

"My thirteen-year-old son (8th grade) recently had the pleasure of working with Jean as his algebra/math tutor, and I can't recommend her highly enough. From the very first session, she was not only knowledgeable but also patient and kind with my son."

- Parent of 8th Grader

"I was looking for extra math help for my middle-school-aged daughter and Ms. Jean came highly recommended by friends. As a tutor, she is extremely kind, supportive and patient with her students. She is gentle but also knows when to push to achieve results. My daughter enjoys the lessons so much that her confidence and interest in math has improved dramatically. I can’t say enough good things about Ms. Jean; it is truly a pleasure to work with her!"

- Parent of 6th Grader

"Ms. Jean has been a big asset to my daughter. Ever since my daughter started with Ms. Jean, her love for math has grown. She has a gentle teaching style that works really well with my daughter!"

Frequently Asked Questions

I specialize in tutoring students in grades K–8. Whether your child needs help with basic arithmetic, understanding core concepts, or exploring more advanced topics like pre-algebra and algebra, I tailor my sessions to their individual needs. My approach aligns with common school curricula—often incorporating elements of the Big Ideas Math curriculum. Upon request, I can also use a different math curriculum - I am familiar with Singapore Math and Math Mammoth.

In a typical session, which generally lasts around an hour, we begin by reviewing your child's current challenges and homework. I then provide clear explanations of difficult concepts and work through targeted practice problems. For grades 3–5, I recommend 60‑minute sessions, while for younger students (grades 2 and below), 45 minutes is ideal. Middle school students benefit from sessions lasting 60–90 minutes to cover more material.

Booking a session is simple—just email me at MathWithMsJean@gmail.com. After a brief consultation to assess your child's needs, we’ll schedule sessions at times that work for you. My fees are competitive and depend on the session length and the level of personalized instruction required. Please reach out for a customized quote.
